12/10/2009 Assemblyman Van Tran Holds Annual Christmas Toy Drive For Needy Children
(COSTA MESA) From Monday, December 7, 2009 to Friday, December 18, 2009, Assemblyman Van Tran (R-Costa Mesa) will hold his annual Christmas Toy Drive to help needy children within the local Orange County community. Tran s District Office will be accepting new, unwrapped toys or gift cards to be distributed to Orange County children by several charitable organizations.
"As the holiday season approaches, it s up to each of us to reach out and give a little extra support to those families who are less fortunate," said Assemblyman Van Tran. "In past years, good-hearted folks have dropped off bag after bag of toys in my office. That is a lot of joy destined for the less fortunate in our neighborhoods."
The Christmas Toy Drive will culminate with a holiday reception with the Assemblyman (and Santa) which is open to the public from 4pm to 6pm on December 18th at Tran s district office in Costa Mesa at 1503 South Coast Drive, Suite #205.
There are over 29 million needy children in the U.S. who live in low income families, according to the National Center for Children in Poverty. Donating a toy to a needy child can provide a positive outlet for the child s energy and creativity. Just a simple toy can make a world of difference in the life of a needy child.
So come on down and have a jolly time, eat some cookies, drink some eggnog, sing holiday songs, spread the joy for those in need - just bring a new toy!
